The BEST of its genre! Very comprehensive!
I own a TON of DIY, tool, method, and Home Improvement books... but I have found Complete Do-It-Yourself Manual: Completely Revised and Updated to be one of the most comprehensive and helpful on the market. The TIPS alone are worth the price of the book, and the projects are functional, useful and easy to build.
The repair methods and descriptions are well documented and easy to understand and complete.
The section on tools and machines is great for those who don't fully understand the uses of various implements and power tools.
All of Complete Do-It-Yourself Manual: Completely Revised and Updated is easy to understand; well-written, and complete in its material. A very very welcome addition to my DIY library!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Readers Digest Complete Do-It-Yourself Manual
When I saw that Complete Do-It-Yourself Manual: Completely Revised and Updated was edited by the folks at FAMILY HANDIMAN I knew that was the book I wanted. I subscribe to that magazine and am totally impressed with the articles and projects. The instructions are given clearly so that we ladies are able to benefit. I purchased the book for a friend who just bought her first house. I'm hoping the Manual will help her do some of the simple tasks herself, thus increasing her self-esteem, and pride in her home.
great but a little vague
Complete Do-It-Yourself Manual: Completely Revised and Updated has come in very handy. We are always very sorry when we forget to consult it first because it inevitably saves us time and frustration. We are in our first house and home repair is pretty new to us. I agree with other reviewers that the instructions are not very detailed, but given the scope of the book I think it does a great job.
Now even I can do it!
