Would have been 5 stars but...
...like a lot of people have mentioned the steam does goes back in the grinder and it is inconvenient when you want to make a second pot right away. Also the grinder is loud. Clean up is pretty easy. I just make sure to take everything out and rinse it really well each time. It takes less then 5 minutes. It is really nice that you can remove the top portion of the grinder and just put it under the tap since the motor is in the coffee maker. Also the thermal pot is awesome, my coffee stays hot for hours. I forgot it about it over night once and the next afternoon I poured out what was left in the pot and it was still warm. I couldn't believe it. I have not had the pouring problems that others have mentioned. I've had mine for a couple months ... Read More
The good and the bad....
I've had this machine for 4-5 years - since it first came on the market, I believe. It is a pretty cool idea, and I do enjoy having freshly ground coffee; It is very attractive and stylish - gets rave comments from guests; the coffee does stay fresh and hot, which is a huge plus for me. Overall, it does make a great cup of coffee.
Now, the cons. It is messy, and requires that you deal with the damp, fine grounds that seems to end up everywhere; it is tough to clean areas that can't be removed; I end up forgoing the grinder feature more often than not, due to the mess that I don't have time in the morning to deal with. It is not just a matter of throwing the removable pieces in the dishwasher - the whole interior is gunky. ... Read More
Works for me
Reading so many negative reviews, I felt I had to put my two cents in. I have had this coffee maker for 3 or 4 years, using it every day, and I have never had a single issue with it. It doesn't leak, it doesn't overflow and it makes hot, strong coffee that stays at a drinkable temperature for several hours. I love coffee. I will make the 10 cup pot and drink it all. I have always ground my own beans and the grinding feature is much easier to use than many separate grinders that require you to stand there and hold the button down for however long it takes to grind. This coffee maker is no louder than any of the other grinders I have had, and it is MUCH easier to clean. I just take all the pieces out and pop them in the dishwasher, and in 90 minutes ... Surprised by all the negative reviews!
I've been using this cuisinart for three years and I'm very surprised by all the negative reviews. I've been really happy with it. It grinds my beans, makes a good cup of coffee, and keeps my coffee hot. Yes it does have some downsides: you have to clean it with every use (would you really expect that you wouldn't? Just stick the pieces in the dishwasher); you can't see how much coffee in the carafe (its thermal); the grind isn't perfect (a bur grinder does a better job but will cost much, much more); it pours slowly (a trade-off I don't mind because my coffee stays hot); you have to tilt it far to pour (again, I don't mind because I like the hot coffee). The only time I've experienced the coffee explosion others have mentioned is when I have ... Read More
Beware
I cannot stand this coffee maker. The cleanup is very involved. Some areas that need daily cleaning are completely inaccessable . Using pre ground coffee it seems to not allow the coffee enough time to go thru the filter . This results in the grinds and hot water pooling till overflow then spilling internally over many fused plastic parts. You cannot even clean them because they cannot be removed. And yes this muck drips over the caraffe and onto the burner and starts to burn. Unbelieveable. Even though you may not use the grinder you still have to break it down and clean the condensate out of it . Very poor. Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind and Brew, Brushed Chrome is junk. If you dont believe me buy one and see for yourself.
