Very Good pencil sharpener
I purchased this pencil sharpener about a month ago. We've used it for a several times and it works great. My grandmother had the very same pencil sharpener for many years and I was very pleased to find the exact same model is still manufactured and sold. My children use them for their pencils and color pencils quite often. I like its portable size and lightweight. While it is battery operated, it has a good motor. I gave it 4 stars because I haven't used it for long enough, but If this sharpener lasts as many years as my grandmother's, I would give it a 5 star.
simply the best pencil sharpener I've ever used
This is the BEST pencil sharpener I've ever used and I am thrilled with it.
It makes a perfectly sharp point on all of my drawing pencils and does it quickly and easily in class and out. It's a little noisy but who cares? It's really lightweight and easy to carry too. It's the Panasonic KP4A-BK Battery pencil sharpener and you should get one! It'll really improve your drawing skills, I guarantee it!
Breaks easily
We only one child at home who uses pencil sharpeners. We've had 3 of this model die in the past two years. They all die the same way-motor still turns, but won't sharpen, just goes round and round the pencil.
worked well but not for too long
This unit was perfect for a couple of years but sadly broke after a few hundred uses. There is a plastic square hole which has to support the shaft of the sharpening assembly and it stripped after usage. Disappointing engineering flaw in an otherwise good product.
Good portable sharpner, so far
I haven't had the Panasonic PK4A-BK for very long. And I use it in my traveling drawing pak. So it doesn't get the workout of my regular electric Panasonic.
But so far it is great. I sharpened 15 color pencils, one after the other, and it make short work of them and great points. Plus no breakage. Probably have pointed about 100 pencils so far and it's working very good and the points are very sharp. A good buy.
