Get an electrical pump instead
I use air mattresses for camping. This pump is way too big to fit in backpack! besides, it takes me 150 pumps to fill a coleman queen size mattress.
For what it is, is not that bad. I understand it can't be smaller, or it would take longer to inflate a mattress. And it can't be faster, since it already inflates twice with every pump. But you can get an electrical-rechargeable pump (same brand) for less than 25 dollars.
Simple efficient and affordable
This pump works well - short size makes you hunch over - can take up to 10 minutes to inflate a queen size mattress.
What a workout!
I bought the pump thinking it would be a great alternative to the battery operated pump...man was I wrong. It works really well, but being bent over to pump so long really killed my back. It's great for home use or car camping, but for primitive or hike ins, I think I'll invest in the battery operated pump. That said...the pump does work well.

Coleman Large Dual Action Hand Pump is a bit puzzling. i got Coleman Large Dual Action Hand Pump today, and the picture on the sides of the box show the product (black) that was actually in the box, the front shows a product (forest green) that has the two inflow/outflow faucets side-by-side on the top base of the pump, and the Amazon pic (black) shows another pump that that has one faucet on the top base and one faucet on the bottom base. It does say on the box (on all sides) that "Product design may vary." (see submitted pics)
The one that I received has the in/out openings in the middle of the handle, so right between where your thumbs would be. This means that every time you pump, the hose also moves up and down with it. Not a very good design. Mine also did not have ... Read More
Time & sweat saver
This pump is worth every penny. I can inflate a Coleman air mattress with a fraction of the time and sweat required to use one of the standard foot pumps. Ever notice that once you use an air mattress and then deflate it, it can never be packed in as compact a space as the box in which it came? This pump can also be used when packing up the air mattress. The pump will suck all the air out of the mattress and make it easier to fold up and store in the same compact size as when it was new. If you are going camping and planning to use an air mattress, this is the pump you want.
