What a toaster!
Perhaps it is that all of my other toasters have been... cheap. But, for my family, this toaster has been magnificant.

I must state that I am not a toast connoisseur, but I do have tastebuds and that should account for something. This toaster has been great... it always toasts our bread satisfactorily.

It might not always be an even color all of the way across but it never undercooks part while burning the other. It turns out a nice golden color with maybe a few spots of darker brown- though certainly not charred. The lightest setting gives a hint of a crunch but doesn't even brown the bread while the highest setting blackens the edges. We like it somewhere in the middle. I have not had problems toasting a 2nd batch immediatly following the first- it always turns out just as perfect.

My only complaint has more to do with my bread choice. I choose to buy a whole wheat bread that is wider than average and, therefore, 2 pieces side by side overlap slightly leaving just a small strip undertoasted. It's not a big deal as it overlaps only 1/4 inch.

I have been very pleased with this blue toaster which I have had over 1 1/2 yrs.

I guess I got lucky . . .
Based on a number of negative reviews, I guess I got lucky because my toaster works as advertised. Whether 4 slices, two slices, one slice or bagels/buns, everything works the way it's supposed to. Toasting is quick (admittedly I have been used to a toaster oven for far too long), even, and the toasting level seems properly reponsive to changes in the digital setting. We use it every day for various things - works great!

Lousy Toaster
I had this toaster for over two years. We used it about 10 times each week. The toast was never consistently browned. Sometimes it was burned on one edge and white on the other. And one day it just refused to work. We bought a cheap Black & Decker which makes nice evenly colored toast. What a concept. Wish I could give 0 stars for the kitchen aid lemon.

Even better than before.
We had a kitchenAid toaster that was 10 or more years old and it died of old age so we bought a new one that is improved over the old one.

Wrong size
I have no quarrel with the performance of the KitchenAid toaster; I was shopping for a very specific size, and the advertised size was not its true size. It was wider by about 3/4 of an inch, which made it unsuitable in the space built for it. The Cuisinart Tandem 4 toaster was also mismeasured, and advertised a half inch less than it actually was.
