Worth it
Bought these to use while mowing lawn on a garden tractor. They are perfect for this type of use. The noise they block is quite sufficient and it's great to have some entertainment. I like to listen to AM radio and you need to have a good strong station to listen to. As your head turns (as with most radios on AM) the station can fade in and out. The voices have too much bass for me and it can be hard to tune with the little analog knob. But for the money, I'm glad I got them and I usually only listen to a strong AM station anyway. FM works fine. Not sure about longevity, but they seem to be built pretty good.
Peltor Worktunes with hearing protector
My husband uses this when he mows the grass. Good product.
Works great on the farm
I bought the WorkTunes headset for my dad as a birthday present and couldn't be more pleased. He uses them pretty much every day when the weather is conducive to working outside. He has sixty acres plus of land to keep cleared of brush and weeds using a self propelled brush hog and gas trimmer. He loves being able to listen to his favorite news and music progams while blocking out the noise made by the equipment. His only complaint is that they're "hot" to wear but that would be the case with a standard set of ear muffs as well. He reports that the battery life is quite good and reception is more than adequate. He stated that the tuning is a little sensitive but in our rural area with few stations it works just fine. Overly sensitive tuning is to be expected with this design due to the space constraints placed on the tuning mechanism. The actual tuning component is driven directly by the tuning knob with no gear reduction mechanism. About 3/4 of rotation of the knob covers the entire FM or AM broadcast band.
Peltor 90545 WorkTunes A+
im going to save you time by not writing a novel of a review. I have a landscaping company and mowing and weedwacking 12 hours a day goes by a whole lot faster listening to music and not having to hear a weedwacker whining at 25000 rpms in my ears. they are also pretty durable, because i dropped them a few times on assphalt and they still work. I would recommend these to anybody that work in a noisy environment, becasue not only do they protect your hearing, but you are entertained by the radio. every landscaper i know uses these and the only thing i have a gripe about is that the radio could get a little better reception on a few of the fm stations that i listen to. otherwise an awesome product that is way cheaper to buy here than at your local landscape supply. its $90+ by me.
does a good job blocking sound
If you are purchaseing this to listen to the radio, then get something else, it makes a good but expensive pair of sound protection for the ears, but not a great or even a good radio. Reception is poor at best.
