Radio Review
Not only is it the radio I have purchased for years but this latest incarnation has been improved with a new face, white buttons, (the old ones were silver) and a smooth finish. It always played perfectly, got great reception, and still has those little extras that i appreciate: A lock button for trips in case a button got hit the radio does not accidentally go on and waste battery life. A timer so it will shut off if left unattended (comes in handy when one goes to bed with it left on.)
The only reason I have bought 4 of them in 8 or more years is that my occupation is outdoors, doing home repair and landscaping the radio can get abused and simply wears out from rough handling, not through any fault of the radio.
Less than wonderful, but it'll do
This little unit does succeed at its most important task: reception. But the sound quality is merely adequate (and I listen to talk, not music.) Though I'm happy to pull in my fave stations, the Sony ICF-M410V's acoustics leave much to be desired.
Worth repeating that there's no power cord included ... extra if you want one. Also, don't assume as I did from the photo the radio is a nifty brushed metal finish; it's a ho-hum light beige plastic.
great radio
Good Sound for a small radio. Great reception, takes only 3AA batteries which have not needed to be changed yet. Nice features. Well made.
Great Sound...No plug !
I had to go out and buy a cord for this radio. I found it strange that it is battery only. The cord was almost as much as the radio . Please know this when buying.

I received this product from Amazon several days ago and the bottom line is that this is one of the best table radios I have ever owned. This is the first time I have ordered from Amazon and I was very pleased with their customer service and the speed in which the radio was delivered to me. I ordered it to replace my twenty year old GE Superadio, also an excellent radio, since I can't tolerate the old dial tuners anymore and decided to upgrade to digital tuning.
The radio has all the features I need such as digital tuning, clock, auto turn-on, and sleep timer. The build quality, design, and ergonomics of the radio are excellent in my opinion, especially for the money. Operation of the controls are simple and intuative. True, it doesn't have a lighted tuner, but I can't read the numbers without my glasses which I wouldn't be wearing in the dark anyway. Also, don't expect a lot of bass from the little two inch speaker, which otherwise does a great job.
I was surprised that this radio receives San Francisco AM stations KGO 810, and KSFO 560 from my home in Sacramento, a distance of about eighty miles away. It even receives Nevada City NPR station 89.5 FM. All three of these stations are hard to receive where I live and a good test for any radio.
The lack of a power cord doesn't bother me as I already have AA batteries and a charger for my digital camera, which I can use with this radio. I advise you to get at least three AA Nickel Metal-Hydride(NMH) batteries and a Lenmar Mach 1 Speed Charger or equivilent to use on this radio. I have had good luck with this particular charger for the past several years.
The only unknown is whether this radio will hold up, but otherwise it is an excellent, reasonably priced table radio which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
