Too difficult to get fixed to make this worth buying!!!
I recently ordered and received this wine cooler. Unfortunately the cooling unit was broken upon delivery. Following Amazon's recommendation, I directly contacted the manufacturer. They gave me a list of 9 different repair people within my area. I called all 9. None of them service Haier Wine Coolers. Finally, Haier found someone who actually services their product. He recommended replacing the unit. However, this is not as easy as one would hope. I guess returning and replacing the product requires manager approval. I have called to receive that approval and am still waiting for a call back. I am now trying to get Amazon to just pick up the cooler. But this will still require me to schedule it and be at home for that pick up window. Overall, I have probably sunk a good 10 hours into a product that has never worked! I'm sorry I bothered. Another - "Good while it lasts" I've had mine for about 2 years with no complaints at all. Yes, the temperature fluctuates a little too much, and yes it does make a (quiet) gurgling sound, but for the price you can't do better. Until the other day when I noticed that the unit had shut itself off completely. It's plugged in, but it's not getting any power. No LED, no interior light, no gurgling sound. I tested the outlet, and it's fine. So, I'm assuming it's a short in the wiring, or perhaps a blown fuse in the unit itself. Whatever, I now need to empty the unit of the wine, and lug it to the service center where they'll try to determine what happened. Great value I bought this from my Gold Box specials, at an amazing price. I've always wanted a wine cooler, but most are too expensive. I pulled all my good and not so good wines out of closets and cabinets, and they fit neatly into this nice little cooler. I keep it in my living room, which doesn't get a lot of sunlight, so I'm not worried about UV rays. It's quiet, attractive, reliable, and handy. I also use it occasionally for coffee or cheese or other refrigerated items that don't have to be too cold. It maintains a temperature of about 50 degrees, which is displayed just above the door. You don't have to be a wine snob to get this cooler. Roz Excellent product I received the Haier BC112G a couple of weeks ago, perfectly delivered by the freight compagny Amazon uses. I am so far very satisfied by this product: the price is right, its sleek look is a nice addition to my living room, it is pretty quiet (not disturbing at all, although you can hear it of course), it easily accomodates 30 bottles, it has a good height allowing variations of temperature between top to bottom, digital temperature, a basic lock - useful if you have kids, and finally a good warranty. I had made extensive research, this product along with free shipping ranks among the top options for any wine fan. Only potential negative point I could raise is that I am not certain if the smoke glass door protects against UVs - it does according to Haier customer service, but doesn't according to some internet reviewers. Important Point to Consider Before Purchase! NOTE: Haier no longer seems to be doing business in the U.S. I wouldn't buy their remaining products as they won't be around to service them or get parts or things. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This model does not feature UV protection on the glass door so it's useless for storing wine long term except in a garage or basement. If you plan on installing in your kitchen, get something else with UV protection. Haier has a higher end model that does feature UV glass. Too bad because I think it's very stylish and understated and actually nicer looking than the higher end model. The main thing to remember here is that you need to either situate this in a dark place (a basement would be better than a garage since your electric bill will be less) or you need to plan on using it only for short-term wine storage -- very important fact to remember in deciding on models to purchase. | |
