Decent kitchen radio given alternatives and space
There are very few under-counter radio options besides the Sony, which probably explains its popularity more than any other factor. Given the space constraints, the reception is decent considering the antenna is in the power cord, though we have strong signals in a major metropolitan area. You should plug the unit into the intended installation space to test its reception BEFORE installing.

The sound is fair given the speakers are wedged at odd angles to disperse sound most efficiently through the room. There is a bass-boost function to compensate for some of its limitations, but do not expect anything approaching audiophile quality, to say the lease.

The interface is intuitive with one exception: the only knob on its face is for a Timer function (that we have never used), not volume. Note that the unit is relatively splash resistant with fully-covered buttons, so it should fare well against the occasional spatter from an over-eager cook, though I would not push it or place the unit above an area that is constantly hot (like above a toaster).

Given its limitations, the unit it is a relatively straightforward and functional under-counter radio that performs as it is intended.

Kudos for Sony!
I purchased this for my mother-in-law for christmas. She love's it! It takes up little room and had exceptional sound quality and is very easy for her to operate. It has a very streamlined design and looks great in her kitchen. Really compliments stainless steel appliances and grantie counter tops.

OK, but buttons wear out...
Pros: Good sound, Solid CD player, decent FM reception, compact

Cons: Fragile volume buttons.

We have had this item 4 years and initially loved it. Good sound, compact, and really saved counter space. Unfortunately, after a year of only adult use, the down volume button on the unit died. a few months later and the up volume button died. Now, the buttons on the remote are dying so it takes several attempts to turn up the volume.

We like it enough to buy the new model from Sony and hope it has more rugged buttons!

Looks good but doesn't operate too well
I got this radio for our kitchen, and, although it could be the position, it doesn't pick up any TV stations very well. The AM/FM reception is decent, and I don't use the remote because it doesn't have very many options on it. Overall, a fair product.

Exoensive but good
The clock radio came when it was supposed to in excellent condition. Others had the same item for less but I trusted Amazon and was not disappointed.
