Inexpensive DVD players are not alike.
I bought this Cyberhome model from BestBuy several years ago and loved it. A power outage killed it recently, so I went to BestBuy to get another, and they don't carry it any more. I bought another brand, Insignia, which is awful! The picture quality is terrible compared to the Cyberhome. Dark scenes have crushed blacks and grays. I'm still looking for another Cyberhome locally. [CyberHome CH-DVD 300S Progressive-Scan DVD Player (Silver)] Would rate it 0 stars if that were an option!!!! Very spotty performance! Audio comes and goes on a whim. CyberHome doesn't respond to email or phone calls, and now it seems that their website is closed. When it works, it is fine, but it doesn't work consistently, and with no customer service it seems a risky thing to buy--even at a low price. [...] This unit is piece of garbage 60 days it worked good and now when I turn on DVD I have on my screen white dots. DVD plays good but I still have a several lines of white dots. They are arrangment by diagonal several rows. Sometimes these lines dissapear for a short time. After cleaning lenses I have the same problem. [...] DVD Player Looking for a reasonable. dependable device. This Dvd player has been just that. I have owned it for over two years and it is still playing. It is in my daughter's room and she watches a lot of kids movies. Can't go wrong with this device. With the price being so cheap, my girlfriend ordered one for her daughter. Picture is seen clearly.
