It gets too old too fast.
It was December 25th, 2004. I knew I was going to get one. Then I did. I was soooo exited! After spending 20 minutes getting the thing out of its box, I found out I didn't have the right batteries. After hunting all over the house, I finally found them. Those batteries were too old. AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH! Later that night, when everyone was finished opening presents, my uncle needed to go out for something, (can't remember what it was) and he brought my batteries back! I jammed them in the compartment and started playing with the thing. I had fun with it for about an hour, making it dance, burp, do karate chops, pick up the plastic cup that came with it, and annoying my sister with it. then I put it to the side and played with my other things. That was all the fun I ever really had with it.
Pros:
Cool-looking.
Funny.
Alot of commands.
Cons:
Can only pick up the cup that came with it, and maybe a paper towel roll.
too expensive; not worth it.
Gets old fast.
In a nutshell, this thing just isn't worth buying for $80+
Waste of $90
After 20 minutes of fiddling with the remote the only thing I could get it to do was simulate Parkinson's symptoms. Avoid!
Stupid Robot
It was a good thing I didn't pay for this (my dad got it) cuz it was a waste. Allright- I opened it from a sealed package, took fifteen minutes to take off the twisties, unscrewed the battery cover and put in the batteries (you need FOUR D batteries and 3 AAA batteries) and than turned it on. I thougt it was supposed to act weird but after reading the manual, it said nothing about weird bleepin and rapid clicking noises. It did note that eratic behavior may have been from sunlight or your own lighting because it blocks infrared transmission from the remote to the robot's head but get this- I put it in complete darkness and away from any wireless devices or whatever in my bathroom and it still doesn't work. &$%#! I read in the manual its supposed to do this wake up routine but it doesn't even get past that so it won't recieve any of my commands. Great. I recommend getting the Mini Robosapien instead- it doesnt do half the things Robosapien is SUPPOSED to do but its only ten bucks here on Amazon[...].
YAY!!!!
After a year of waiting, I got a green RoboSapien at RadioShack. I have a few rumors to fix up!
1:He walks just fine on carpet.
2:He can easily pick items up, and hold them with ease.
3:He is easier then you think to get out of the box.
4:He does not dent or chip easily.
5:It is easy as heck to get used to the controls.
I love his dance! He has his own music! :D
Weak
Looks cool but really doesnt do much.
Walks very slow. Maybe 1 foot in a minute and takes about a minute or two to turn around 180 degrees. Very hard to pick up objects as the hands do not reach very low and it can't carry anything weighing more than a paper cup or a pencil. Many of the limbs are articulated together so like when the robot want to grab somehting it can only do it to near its ankle at its side while leaning. The voices all sound like a grunt so not much personality. Version 2 of this coming out fall 2005 with some other variations like a dinosaur and dog that may move a bit faster so stay tuned.
