Longevity is more than mediocre
$90.00 and the thing lasted for less than a year?!?!? It still plays CDs, barely: I can't move forward or back from one song to another, only play the disc straight through; the Play button doesn't work--to restart it I have to pull the head set and/or the plug-in (when I am using AC instead of battery power) out and then plug it back in, or sometimes open the case and then re-close it; and the volume button no longer works either, it's stuck at one volume permanently...
Up until these problems started arising, about 7 months after I bought it, I thought this was one of the best CD players I'd ever had... I don't use it for mp3s, so I can't comment on that.
But I like the wrap around over-the-ear phones, and I LOVE the hand strap!! That was one of the best features! Makes it so much easier to carry in your hand. I'm looking for one now that has a handstrap but is NOT this brand/model
There are an excessive amount of directions to get it to do everything it can do, but I just set it up for what I wanted and never changed it again.
Still the lack of longevity alone makes me say "don't buy it"
The one I had prior cost me $50 and lasted almost 3 years, even though I dropped it 3 or 4 times.
Most happy niece
My niece runs track in high school and loves this CD player & FM radio! She wanted a model that she wouldn't have to worry about dropping in puddles during winter. I wondered about the wrist strap when I purchased it as a gift, but she likes that too - easy to hold onto while doing practice runs. She's thanked me many times over for picking this model, and exclaims "the sound is wonderful and the headgear rocks!" I don't think she's tried MP3 files yet.
Sony D-NS707F S2 Review
I wasn't happy with this unit as the controls are connected to a wrist strap that easily comes loose. Worse even was that I didn't even know this player had this arrangement as the pictures show the backside of the unit. No wonder! The only redeeming quality of the unit was the sound.
Radio Works .. CD's and MP3's thats another story!
I gave this as a gift for my friend who dosn't speak english. a bi-lingual manual would've been helpful. He tells me that the top dosn't always stay closed and it doesn't read his cd's or mp3's. but after reading someone elses review i now know i have to tell him to wait about 10 minuites for the cd to be read. I have been to sony.com and can not find this product on their site. discontinued? I wonder why?
Great Discman, but be aware!!!
If you are looking for a very nice and modern discman, with mp3,fm and am radio ,tv and weather stations' tunner, then this one's for you!!! But be aware: the hand strap is non removable, and it doesn't appear in the pictures, because it's on the other side of the player, which makes it a little bulky. The pictures should definitively be better.Nevertheless it exceeded my expectations and I'm really happy I got it.
