Cheaply Made
This device cooks well enough, but it is "tinny", for lack of a better word. Good old George Foreman is MUCH more substantially made. The stainless steel exterior is more difficult to keep clean than other devices. I would have paid more for a better made machine. Nice try, but not up to my standards in cookware.
The Best Griddler and Panini maker
I ordered this for a christmas present for myself last year and I am still using it all the time! It works very well and is dependable. It makes perfect pancakes and is evenly heated. The paninis turn out delicious. The appliance is compact, retro, and fun to use. Makes a perfect gift!
Love it!
We us our griller at least a couple of times a week to make healthy and ymmy sandwiches. It works great and is very easy to clean--the non-sticke removable plates pop right out for a quick wash.
I was afraid this would be another kitchen gadget that we never use--but it makes GREAT paninis and we are using it regularly.
Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler...A-
I had been wanting one of these griddlers for awhile and was pleased to find it at a great price. Shipping was fast, product was well packed. I couldn't find this product any cheaper. I've already used it to make pannini's and grilled cheese. It's great!
Good idea, poor execution
I needed a griddle, and this seemed like a great idea -- an appliance that does double duty, creates a nifty panini in addition to pancakes, good manufacturer(?) -- a slam dunk, right? Wrong.
This has been a disappointment, mainly because of poor heating. You never know what temperature surface you will get. If set to 350, it may eventually reach it, but put cool batter on it, and it may take 10 minutes to get back up to temperature. And turn the heat up, to 450, say? Next time, they'll burn in 2 minutes flat.
I received a replacement from Cuisinart, and the new unit seemed to heat a little more evenly, but I think it was mostly wishful thinking. AND, the new unit doesn't stay level when in an open position -- it tilts when a spatula presses on it. Now my warranty has expired, so it's just taking up space for the occasional sandwich.
So if you're looking for something that will grill a hamburger like a George Foreman grill, get a GF grill. It will most likely do a better job than this unit. And for pancakes, get a real griddle. That's what I'm gonna do.
