Great but small.
I got this player a little over a year ago. I was looking for a nice simple mp3 player that would just play mp3's and not much else. For that purpose this is about the best player you can buy. The thing that drives me crazy though is that when you start a song it fades in so you miss the very beginning, wich can be very annoying when you are listening to songs that have either lyrics at the begining or start right into one another.(Like Green Day's Holiday, into Boulavard of Broken Dreams.) Apart from the fading in, this player has an unbelivably small memory. from what I could get at 128 mps/second on wma. you can put 80-90 songs on the player. This is fine if you have a relativly small library but if you have a larger library then you will have to constantly add or remove songs wich can get annoying. The radio on the player is actualy very good and for some reason they let you toggle through mono and stereo. I actualy found the mono useful if you have two people listening to the earbuds at the same time so neither of them miss anything. The voice recorder is a little shakey but with the low quality of the sound you are recording, you could put hours and hours of recorded things on it. Supposedly you can delete songs without using the computer(wich would be helpful if you want to make a voice record but the memory is full) but after a while this feature somehow was disabled and I could no longer use it. Instead of deleting the old song it brought you into the record screen and started recording. The controls are very simple to use but what a button is labeled isnt what it does in every feature it has. The headphones that come with it have great quality but have one wire much longer that the other. while this is good for attaching it to your arm while jogging but it ruins being able to put it in your pocket while playing. Also the plastic case that comes with it isn's that good. while it covers the whole player it dones't fit the screen just right. The case also has little holes for the headphones and hold button and the usb cable wich make it at least worth using. The armband that comes with it dosn't stay to well on your arm if you have a thin arm. With a jacket it stays on just fine, but if you live down south you wouldn't want to wear a jacket. The screen is also much better then I ever would have expected. I expected a crappy little screen with numbers 1-80, but no, it gives the song title, the song time, the format it is in, and what folder its in. After a year of loyal service I finaly decided that it was just too small anymore because I had a 2 GB Library and it was irratating as hell to keep adding and removing the songs over and over again. I finaly sold it to my friend (...)and bought an iPod. Even though it is small it is a great little player and I would recomend it to anyone who wants to replace a CD player with something that dosn't skip to go running or work out.

Worst MP3 Player it is JUNK!!
This is a very difficult item to use and it breaks down! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

It is a good thing this thing is no longer available as it shows it is junk. Not even SanDisk has replacements!

Excelent product and excelent sound
This Mp3 it's great, this was my first mp3 and i feel very proud to buy it because i see i made a good buy. So buy it if you can.

Works, but not a great player
I have owned this player for almost a year now. Until now, I have not had many problems with it. It is light and it worked. The most annoying thing about this player is the interface. It is usable but it is not as easy as other mp3 players I have used/owned. You have to use three buttons and the thumb nipple button to control the device. Sometimes, it is very frustrating trying to navigate thru the different modes. Or, you get stuck on the radio mode by accident (the radio sucks, by the way...there is almost no reception) and it is a b*tch to get back to listen to mp3s.

recently, it has started to jam up on me. this came out of the blue. my mp3 player has not been dropped, stepped on, or shocked in any way.

this player is convient for athletic activity because it is small but I will look for better devices in the future.

Great beginner MP3 player
I bought the SanDisk 256 MB MP3 player for my husband for Christmas. I realized he was a bit more technically savvy than me, so I ended up keeping it for myself and getting him another with more memory.

I've never used an MP3 player, but the SanDisk 256 is so easy to use, I mastered it within minutes. The help disk included with the player also provided a download for MusicMatch Jukebox, which is similar to I-tunes or Napster. Purchasing, downloading, and transferring CD tunes was so easy even I could do it. It took literally only minutes to get my first MP3 files going.

One of the reasons I wanted to migrate from CD players to MP3 players was the skip factor. The SanDisk 256 uses the embedded flash memory which really comes in handy at the gym. I hang the SanDisk 256 around my neck with a cord and though the unit bounces off my chest over and over, it never skips. This is a definite plus.

The sound quality is great, the display easy to read, and I love that the SanDisk comes with an FM radio and voice recorder. Don't let the small memory fool you. I have a mix of MP3 and WMA and right now have around 50 songs on the unit with about 1/3 of the memory still available. For the price, this is a great beginner MP3 player, very sharp looking, easy to use, and well worth the price.
