Not a great option for spice grinding
I received this product as a gift, as the salesperson promised that it would work great for grinding spices. It doesn't. Uneven grinding, not catching some of the spices that sit on the bottom, and others spray to the top of the cover where the blades cannot reach, and if you have to use it for longer periods of time it heats up and blanches the flavor out of the spices. The plastic top has cracked and pieces broken off so many times (but continues to partially snap into place) that the spices spray everywhere when used.
I do not use this for coffee grinding, therefor I cannot give a review as to it's performance for which it is originally intended. This is only for those who do a lot of spice grinding.
Krups grinder
Awesome grinder. I use it for grinding flax seed. It is every bit as good as it is advertised.
Good, but not great
Bought the Krups GX4100 Electric Coffee and Spice Grinder because it was similar in design to a Braun grinder we had earlier and it had the nice stainless steel and black look we wanted.
I was aware of the static clinging problems reported by others and have noticed a tendency for the ground coffee to cling to the unit. Not a big problem. Just tap the unit before emptying.
The clear platic top is a bit quirky in the way it fits. Once you get the hang of it, though, it's okay.
Overall it's a good grinder that does a nice job on the coffee beans. Haven't tried it for spices but I imagine it would be fine for that as well.
Excellent Grinder
I owned a Krups coffee grinder before and it lasted 12 years. The GX4100 is a step up from my old one in style. This new one does a wonderful job of grinding. Please be aware that if you grind cloves in it, the plastic top will turn opaque and you will no longer be able to see what is being ground anymore. Otherwise, the best grinder to be had for the money.
state of the art grinder
I purchased this product to grind flax seeds. This grinder looks sleek and works well. What more could you want?
