What Others Say

Perfect Gift for Anyone!
I will be the first to admit that I hate baking cookies. Don't get me wrong ~~ I love to cook and bake ~~ I just don't like baking cookies. They are time-consuming, they are messy and I just don't like doing it. However, with a hubby and two little boys, cookies are a must-have staple in our kitchen. I found Mom's Big Book of Cookies: 200 Family Favorites You'll Love Making and Your Kids Will Love Eating originally at the library and when I flipped through it, I realized that I couldn't just returned it after two weeks. I had to have my own copy.

This is such a neat little find for me. It has tips in here on how to have your kids help you with baking cookies, like for example, "Kids enjoy rolling together the two types of dough in this recipe, so when you're finished mixing, let them take over (page 33, Chocolate ... Read More

Best cookie cookbook I've found
I love this cookbook. It has an amazing variety and I can always find a cookie recipe for what I'm craving or what I have in the cupboards at the time (there is even a section of cookies for when you want cookies but you don't have the basics). It is very well organized into sections with good tips and tricks within the recipe. The recipes are easy to follow and all the cookies I've tried have turned out great.

Awesome!
This is a great cookie baking book - firstly, its very practical, the spiral bound feature makes it easy to follow the recipes whilst preserving the book's appearance [wish all cookbooks were that way]. The recipes are fun, and easy to make with lots of practical tips like melting the butter and allowing to cool to room temperature before creaming it with the sugar. All in all, a cookie baker's delight and practical too!

Good but not as good as her other baking book.
I own the author's "Mom's Big Book of Baking" and use it all the time, so I bought Mom's Big Book of Cookies: 200 Family Favorites You'll Love Making and Your Kids Will Love Eating from Amazon sight unseen. While I've used it alot, I don't know if I really need both of her books as many of the recipes appear in both books in slightly altered form. That being said, I have used the book several times and my kids like cooking from it because the pictures are so appealing. It's also spiral bound, so it's easy to keep open on the counter when you are cooking with 2 kids at your heels.

A Great Variety
Both my roommate and I are avid bakers, and we are always looking for new cookie recipes. I saw Mom's Big Book of Cookies: 200 Family Favorites You'll Love Making and Your Kids Will Love Eating and after flipping through it decided I needed to have it.

Lauren Chattman includes recipes for classics such as chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, and slice-and-bake sugar cookies. Also included are some more interesting ideas, such as black forest chocolate chip cookies, cornmeal cranberry squares, after-dinner microwave brownies, and m&m biscotti.

The black & white cookies were a big hit with my friends, and they were surprisingly easy to make. Tonight I'm making sour cream chocolate chip cookies, and I am so excited to taste them!

I really recommend Mom's Big Book of Cookies: 200 Family Favorites You'll Love Making and Your Kids Will Love Eating to anyone who has any ... Read More
