What Others Say

served me well for MANY years
I recently went online to look for a replacement carafe for this model - the second carafe I've replaced in the model's lifetime and was surprised at all the negative reviews. I'm not sure if the newer versions have been made more cheaply or not, but I have had my blender now for well over 10 years and have never had a problem other than having to replace the carafes because of breaking them through my own clumsiness. It lives on my countertop and sees ample use and I have never experienced a problem. And I have used the machine on a regular basis, making smoothies, crushing ice, pureeing soups, blending dressings. As for replacing the o-ring, I never have had to and have never had any leaks, but I also wouldn't consider cleaning rubber in ... Read More

Do Not Buy This Blender -- It Will Break
This is a powerful blender, but it will likely break within a year of purchase.

Consumer reports gave it high marks, but a few months later published a sidebar in which they said that the small white plastic drive mechanism will break. This is a very fragile, delicate gear thingy on the bottom of the blade assembly.

This happened to me three times. Each time I was able to convince Braun to send me a free replacement, but it took a lot of arguing once the warranty period expired. I can't believe that they haven't created a stronger part. If you can't get it for free, they will charge you $24 for a new base. They won't sell you just the little white part that breaks.

Here's how it breaks: if you ... Read More

Strike two. Cheap plastic parts that wear and break (and you can't fix that)
Braun MX2050 Jug Blender
We have had two of these blenders from Amazon. When new I rated it good. But over a year the first jug lost plastic teeth. The second blender after 13 months of a lot of home use broke. The plastic turning gear on the machine spins uselessly. The motor works great but the plastic assembledge of the machine and plastic teeth on the glass jug is poor. I need a new blender now and I surely say there must be better choices.

I thought this machine was powerful and good. It looks great. They promote the powerful engine. But it is like having a car with a super powerful engine but you can't drive it because something else breaks down. I struck out twice with two machines and I am done buying this one at any ... Far too weak
I first used PowerMax Jug Blender in January 2006. We did not use it very heavily at all. I ordered new blades for it twice and now it won't blend anything. The new blades just about doubled the original price. I thought Braun had a good reputation, but I am throwing PowerMax Jug Blender away and I don't plan to purchase a Braun product again.

Blender breaks, otherwise I like it!

I bought PowerMax Jug Blender because of good reviews on Consumer Reports and other sites, and bought it specifically to make food for my baby (as well as other uses). It worked very well for about 6 months, but then the white plastic piece at the base of the pitcher melted while I was blending on on high speed. I should note that making baby food requires blending/grinding grains and dried legumes on high for up to 2 minutes, but my baby food book says that blenders are designed to withstand this kind of work. I was disappointed. I did find that I could order a replacement piece (Amazon had it at the cheapest price overall), but I was not happy to spend more than expected on the blender.
