Editorial Review:

Amazon.com ReviewCalphalon Commercial hard-anodized pans are made for the more serious cook who is looking for kitchenware built to last a lifetime. This medium-size, 8-quart stockpot is good for soup, stews, and most pasta, and its heavy-gauge aluminum construction also stands up to deep frying. The looped handles are easy to grip and stay cooler than you might expect, thanks to V-shaped splits where they meet the pan, but it's still a good idea to keep hot pads nearby. The nonporous and nonreactive hard-anodized surface resists sticking and doesn't affect the flavor or color of food. It's also tough enough to handle stainless-steel utensils and vigorous whisking. Unlike pans with plastic or wood handles, the extremely sturdy all-metal construction provides you the flexibility to take the pan to the oven or broiler. But do remember to hand wash your Calphalon pans--dishwasher detergents are bad for the finish and their use voids the lifetime warranty. --Dale Steinke

What Others Say

Anodized finish wore off
I have had only Calphalon Commercial cookware for nearly 10 years. This stock pot is my workhorse, but the interior finish is completely worn off. Since it's lifetime warranty, I am now sending it to the factory for replacement. I rate the pan only 3 stars because the finish is gone; if the company stands behind the product as they say they do, don't let the 3 stars deter you in purchasing Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 8-Quart Stockpot with Lid. My other pots are all fine, but do not get the use this one gets (simmering tomato and other sauces for long periods).

great size for multi-purpose cooking
This stock pot came as part of a larger set that we received as a wedding gift in 2001. It is by far one of the most frequently used pieces of the set. It is a great size for bulk cooking, but is not TOO large to the point of being overly cumbersome. My only complaint is that it is hard for me to wash this in my sink because of it's weight. However, that said, nothing sticks to this, so clean up is easy with the exception of occasionally knocking into my faucet. Overall, this would make an excellent addition to your kitchen.

Great Pan!
What more can you say about this brand and there product line. The "COMMERCIAL" style are top quality and Amazon.Com prices are unbeatable.

My anything pot!
I love this pot! It was a part of my cookware set, and I use it endlessly. I like to cook large batches of soups, stews, and sauces and freeze them for later use. This item simplifies the mess I make when doing so. I can use one pot, and be done with it! It's also great for pasta/egg noodles/pierogies (with or without matching pasta insert), large batches of hard boiled eggs, and making homemade stocks/broths. It cleans up easily by hand as well.

Essential for Cooking Pasta (and More)
The Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 8-Quart Stock Pot with Lid is almost constantly in use in my kitchen. I love to cook pasta by using this pot with the 8-quart pasta insert (see my review of this item). Once you have cooked pasta by using an 8-quart stockpot and insert, you will never want to cook pasta in any other way. At first, if you are not used to it, the stockpots when filled with boiling water may seem very heavy, but after a little while you will become very adept at handling them. The only difference between this stockpot and the Commercial nonstick one (much better than Calphalon's Professional line) is the inside coating and that the lid is stainless steel, instead of hard-anodized aluminum. I have not had much of a problem ... Read More
