Editorial Review:

Amazon.com ReviewCompact and loaded with electronic controls, this 0.5-cubic-foot countertop convection toaster oven/broiler has room to toast four slices, roast a 4-1/2-pound chicken, bake a 9-inch pie, or broil several steaks. Because it circulates hot air, the 1500-watt oven cooks faster and more uniformly than a conventional oven. For easy cleaning, the interior is nonstick and a slide-out tray catches toast crumbs. The oven measures 14 inches wide, 9-1/4 inches high, and 17 inches deep, weighs 20-1/2 pounds, and carries a three-year warranty against defects. It comes with a rack that fits in two positions and a baking pan with a broiler insert. For safety, the oven automatically shuts off after 4 hours.

A touchpad control panel runs the width of the oven and offers many options, including time and temperature, for all cooking methods. Toasting controls, for example, include buttons for number of items, defrosting, and bagels. Up to seven customized settings can be programmed into the toaster's memory so they can be conveniently recalled. Combining, say, the four-slice option, the defrost option, and the bagel option in the memory allows for defrosting and toasting four frozen bagel halves to a desired shade at the touch of a button without having to reprogram the toaster. --Fred Brack

What Others Say

Positives greatly out weigh negatives
Everyone who has written a positive reviewed has it right.
I find only 2 draw backs:
1. The crumb tray removal to the rear, but this is offset by the controls up front and center where they are needed.
2. The lack of auto shut off, this is more troublesome but forewarned if forearmed.

I owned a KRUPS oven for 4 years and find this one superior all the way around. I would buy it again and recommend it to everyone who needs an all around oven in a small kitchen. BTW: For toasted whole grain bread: 4 slices at setting 6 for lightly toasted and setting 7 if you want extra crunch.

Good, but no light

Cuisinart TOB-175BC Convection Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome
Works fine, but we had not considered the question of an internal light. This oven does not have one, and we miss it.

Toaster Oven Great - Warranty NOT
The Oven itself works like a dream. It toasts, bakes, broils beautifully. However the boiler pans rusted in my dishwasher and cuisinart will only replace one of them and I have to purchase the other pan for $17. Did I just spend over $150 to be told that I am out of luck on a part that should still be under warranty. If I purchased locally I would be returning it to the store and exhanging it.

Just right for us
My wife originally bought the model 30 from Cuisinart, but the reviews here were horrible, so we decided on this more expensive unit. We wanted a toaster oven to help keep the heat down in the kitchen during the summer. The package warns that the exterior gets hot, but it does not seem excessive, and much less heating than from a full-sized oven.
I had no idea what a great invention the convection oven is: I have made cookies and hot wings with equal success. The oven seems to cook a little faster in the convection mode, so the cookies were done about 15% faster than the package suggested. I'm still experimenting with toast.
It is a little large, but smaller than some of the less expensive Cuisinart units. I'll try and up-date this ... Read More

Great appliance
This is a great machine. I didn't know if it was really worth the money but it is very much worth the price. It toasts as well as a regular toaster and the convention feature is great. I don't use my big oven any more!
