good AM radio but no light!? duh...
The biggest feature I use is the sleep timer, AM radio puts me to sleep, what can I say. But the no light thing is really dumb, why would they leave that out? yeesh... If I didn't have a pair of night vision goggles I wear to bed, I would be lost. I also like to feature that blocks out Bush's voice and inserts easy listening jazz. I'm not a jazz fan but I'm starting to be.
where can I find another radio like this
I probably went through 30 AA cells before I bought rechargables for this radio. I lost it on a camping trip and am looking for something that compares. It was my favorite radio I bought it for $30-$40 and see now that you can only get it for 179$!$! as a refurb?
Will the TV portion of this work after the digital conversion?
Will I still be able to receive the TV signals after 2/2009 when analog goes away? Or will I need a converter of some sort?
Incredible Reception
This little radio has incredible reception. I wanted a small white radio for my kitchen and this is far better than I expected. I live in an area with limited public radio reception. Other radios had to be turned just right in the right location to pull in the two available stations. This one has no reception problems in any location. I also subscribe to Sirius satellite radio and have found that besides the tuner that receives the satellite signal I could also pick it up from radios in nearby rooms but only for a limited distance. Today I found that I could pick up the satellite signal from anywhere in my yard except behind a tree. I am overjoyed!
If you use the radio as many hours as I do you will want to use rechargeable batteries ... Read More
Weather Radio Useless
We live in a major hurricane area, so one of the main reasons I bought this radio was for the weather function. Because of our location we have two US Weather Bureau stations we can receive the weather warnings on. When I first got the radio I didn't think it could pick up the weather band at all. A while later when I happened to be standing in a specific location in the house, and held it at jusssst the right height and angle I could here faint, mostly unintelligible sounds come from it when on that band.
It's useless as a weather radio unless you are on top of the broadcast station.
It works OK for AM/FM but nothing to write to friends about.
