Works well
I like this machine, it works well and allows for a fresh cup of coffee when I want one. I like that I can throw the filter into the dishwasher or just give it a quick rinse. My only issue with the DCM18 is that the cover for the mug does not maintain a tight seal. It pops off when I put it on, which makes for dangerous drinking conditions when the coffee is hot!
Overall, this is a nice unit with a small footprint on the kitchen counter.
Good Coffeemaker
I love this coffeemaker. I only drink about 2 cups of coffee per day, so this is perfect. It is also great for brewing 1 cup of tea. It is a good buy for the price.
Great ... you just have to know a couple of tricks
I have had this coffee maker for about a year now. When I first got it and used it as instructed it was a big disappointment. Coffee grounds everywhere and very hard to clean. I read one "professional" review that gave me some tips. If you use the filter that comes with it, watch it constantly while it is brewing. Don't let the filter got too full of water. You kind of stir the grounds as the water passes through. The other better option is to throw out the filter that comes with it and use a disposable filter. I have read others that suggest a #1 filter. This is too small for me. #2 filters are perfect and easy to find in the store. I know other reviewers find the built in filter easy, but I think dumping the paper filter is actually ... Read More
Poor Design
As many said it overflows the coffee grounds. The built in filter is the worst. The grounds go over the top and into the water resavoir and down into the mug. I also tried #1 paper filters and the coffee grounds still go over the top.
Great Lil Coffee Maker
I love Coffee...the wife doesn't. But as much as I love coffee, I can't drink an entire pot of it myself. This little baby is the perfect solution. I've used one at home for about 2 years, and just bought a second one for the office.
Here's a deviation from the standard instructions that I follow and have found practical. I use a coffee filter....I know it says that you don't need one, and you don't really. But, I have found using a filter has a few advantages. 1) It eliminates the "crumbs" in the bottom of my mug. 2) It helps cut the bitterness. and MOST importantly... 3) It makes clean up even easier.
Take your regular size coffee filter, fold it in half, then in half, then half again (into eighths basically). hold it ... Read More
