Better than expected
My Calphalon 12" tempered glass Cover arrived on-time and in A-1 condition. I thought, based on previous reviews, that the handle might be poorly secured. I was wrong. Maybe they've improved it. I'm a happy chef again.
Should have read the reviews!
If I had read the reviews first I would not have ordered this lid. It did not come close to fitting my Calphalon 10" pan. Much too large. BUT, I was able to arrange a fast return with the printed label provided by Amazon. It is always nice to do business with Amazon!
Lid for 12" sauce pan
The product I purchased through Amazon is exactly what I wanted! It is not easy to find this lid on the shelf in any store. Amazon listed what I wanted.
Lids fit tight, but they fit
Personally, I like the tight fit of the pan lids. If you follow the directions from Calphalon, you will heat up the pan prior to adding your food. The lids fit wonderfully on the hard anodized pans once the pan is at the proper cooking temperature and makes a great seal. I use the 12" saute pan to fry potatoes and it does it in half the time, browns the potatoes while they are cooking/softening, and uses very little oil to do the job. I never thought I would have such a great helper in the kitchen!
Careful!
I have a stainless steel calphalon 12 qt. sauce pot. The pot works great; however, the lid needs improving. I dropped the lid while washing the set and it fell to the floor. It shattered like you wouldn't believe. The fragments were small as crumbs. What was so surprising is that it fell to a section of the floor covered by carpet first and then bounced onto the tile causing it to shatter. I've had Corning fall and hit against another piece of glass and it has remained in tact. I was disappointingly surprised of the extent of this tragedy. Be careful when handling the glass lid!
