A great add-on for your FoodSaver!
It's no secret that the bags for the FoodSaver are expensive. Enter the Regular Mouth Jar Sealer. This is great for items that you want to keep vacuum sealed in between uses. Think "dry goods" such as beans, macaroni, corn starch, brown sugar, etc. For those that are not familiar with exactly what this does I will give a brief expanation. With this jar sealer you can take a standard canning jar, put the desired product inside, slap on a good canning jar lid, and vacuum seal it using the 'canister' button and the vacuum hose that came with your FoodSaver. Use this "trick" and it works great!
HERE'S THE TRICK I FOUND: (1) make sure the tubes are well-attached to the white jar sealer part and the machine (2) PUSH DOWN ON THE WHITE JAR SEALER while the machine vacuums. It works great!
I figured this out when I noticed that there is a rubber ring inside the jar sealer top and if it's not pressing down enough on the jar, the vacuum isn't as effective.
I read the previous reviews with interest - what contrasts of opinions! I just tried FoodSaver T03-0006-01 Regular Mouth Jar Sealer and found it to work perfectly. I tried both the wide and regular mouth sealers. They both work perfectly well. I used new lids. I did not heat them before using.

Terrible item
Terrible item, I returned the entire foodsaver device because the wide mouth jar sealer didn't work.
The older white foodsaver worked better on jars.
I guess everyone wants stainless steel now to go with new appliances, but this thing is over engineered doo doo.
Better than before
The wide mouth sealer has always been a gem, but in the past, the regular one was hit or miss. I recently bought a new one, and it has worked flawlessly. I've sealed at least 50 jars with it; all have sealed on the first try. Great product and so much easier and faster than using canisters to seal jars. Love it!
Very useful addition to my Foodsaver!
I use my Foodsaver vacuum sealer all the time, to seal food in special plastic bags. But some things, like rice and beef jerky, puncture the plastic bags. So this canning jar sealer was just what I needed. I put rice (or spices, flour, cornmeal, salt, any dry item) in a jar, set the metal lid on top, apply this jar sealer, and let the vacuum do its job. In 30 seconds the jar lid is securely vacuumed to the jar, and the contents are safe from bugs, mice, moisture and spoilage. I also bought the large-mouth jar sized sealer, and I've used them both many times.
Do not use this jar sealer for canning fruits, vegetables or other wet foods. Anything that would spoil at room temperature needs to be canned using a pressure canner ... Read More
