I've waited two months before writing this review, but I got to tell you it feels like I've been carrying my Z22 for a year. It does EXACTLY what I need, and nothing I don't. And you cannot beat the below $100 price.
Yes, PDAs are old technology, but I'm not the type that needs the newest anyway. And I really did not want to carry the thing all the time the way I do my cell phone. Z22--not as good as Z31
I purchased the Z22 to replace a Zire 31 (Z31) whose screen stopped responding, despite cleaning and hard resets. This review is based on a comparison of the Z22 to the Z31. The Z22 alarm is not very loud, despite being on the highest setting. In addition, the screen is smaller than the Z31. There is also no music player and memory expansion port. On the plus side, the Z22 is easy to use and has enough memory to meet my day-to-day needs. It was easy to import my Z31 contacts and schedule. Everything works as advertised. My main concern is how long will it work? My Z31 stopped responding after 3 years, despite having a screen protector.

My Last Palm
I've had Palms for years, mostly for sync with Outlook calendar and contacts. Versamail is so useless and poorly supported that I stopped sync with E-mail on my T3. Compared to my old T3 and Vx models, the Z22 is far too slow. It has to pause to display each Grafitti (input) character! There has been no meaningful software or OS development in the last 5 - 10 years. Forget Palm, get a little netbook.
Perfect for my needs
The Palm Z22 is exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't interested in getting a smart phone because that's just one more thing that could go wrong, but I needed to break away from the paper organizers I've been using. This is small and does just what I need it to do, for an excellent price. I would recommend this to anyone looking to make their organization a little easier.
