Breville saved me from Starbucks!
I bought my machine about a year ago, and I have to say I am nothing but pleased. IT makes excellent espresso/lattes. I do prefer pressing my own vs the PODS, It seems like the pressure is not enough to draw a good shot through the pod vs just pressing your own loose grind. I did buy a froth thermometer to ensure I get just the right temp foam/milk. I am impressed and sure to buy another when this machine decides to call it quits.

I've had my machine about a year. I have enjoyed the machine and the coffee it produces very,very much. Yes, the crema is great. This is a fine machine especially for the price. The rest is up to the person making the cup including the beans, grind, et... remember - as much art as science!
not so great
This item is not that bad. I just had a time with the warming tray. It took for ever to get warm enough to do any good. I returned the item. Had some other issues also.

I have had a number of Krups machines, and they are okay to good. However, this machine is great. The crema is wonderful, and the coffee tastes great. I think the guy who wrote the review must have gotten a bad machine, because mine makes great espresso.

I'm a novice barista, but I have been to many different cafes so I hope I know what a good espresso should taste like. :)
I made several espressos with the Breville, with different grinds, packing methods. Overall, the Breville produced a very inferior espresso. Basically, it was very bitter/sour AND weak. I couldn't enjoy the espresso at all. I believe the bitter taste is from the machine not producing enough pressure or not getting hot enough. I don't know the exact technical reason.
