THE END OF MONEY WASTED ON SPOILED FRUITS AND VEGGIES!
Just what I've been looking for. Picked this up the other day from Menards for 36 bucks, it has been humming along ever since. Put a new batch in before bed, empty and refill in the morning, empty refill at night, repeat repeat repeat!
Some have said it's a bit noisy, it's just the humming of the fan inside of it- not a big deal. (Trust me, you do NOT want a dehydrator without a fan) The heat from this is also certainly less than the oven dehydrating method, not to mention less of a hassle. (I honestly wonder if the reviews complaining about the heat even understand the dehydrating process, it must be around 95-155 degrees in there and the air must keep moving, therefore it must be semi hot- and it cannot be in a closed space, hence ... Works great
I used Nesco American Harvest FD-35BJW-5 Snackmaster Entree with Jerky Kit to make beef jerky. I used two pounds of ground beef and had to make two batches! It worked quickly and was a little noisy, but nothing I can't live with. And it cleaned up very easily. I hope to use it next to try drying some fruit for another healthy snack.
Noisy but works GREAT
The nesco is a perfect jerky making product. I like that you can put the meat in and walk away. A couple of negatives about the product. The trays are too large to fit in the dish washer (instructions state that you do it, just not on heated dry) and I have to put it in another room when we are making jerky b/c it is rather noisey (sounds like a hair-dryer partially muffled under a towel). The positives, well, it has already paid for itself with the amount of jerky we have made. The seasoning packs and can be re-ordered at any time (about $1.20/lb of jerky) which is, in my opinion, cheaper than getting all the ingredients measuring, mixing, etc... Nesco American Harvest FD-35BJW-5 Snackmaster Entree with Jerky Kit is definitely worth the purchase if you are any type of Jerky fan.
Turkey Jerky
I have recently had bariatric surgery and am always looking for "portable" foods that are tasty and high in protien. I found myself spending exorbitant amounts to order turkey jerky on line as it is not available locally, so I ordered Nesco American Harvest FD-35BJW-5 Snackmaster Entree with Jerky Kit and using extra lean ground turkey from the local Walmart, I can create my own that is fresh, tasty, and I actually enjoy the process of making it. The jerky gun is a nifty little tool and I do believe I get better with each batch.
cheap jerky!
I bought this item to make jerky for my dogs. They had been getting the dog stuff from Walmart (China), as well as some human stuff. I'd say that, not only has my piece of mind increased exponentially because I know exactly what is going into their jerky (nothing, I don't use the curing packets it comes with, just a little salt), I am paying maybe 25% of what I was for their snack. This thing could not be easier to use, and clean up is a snap (although I'd recommend a brush to do the trays with, it gets all the dried on meat juice off). I am extremely happy with Nesco American Harvest FD-35BJW-5 Snackmaster Entree with Jerky Kit.
