multi-use holder
As others have mentioned, this holder is adjustable. Because of this, it lends itself to carry item other than water bottles. I sometimes use it to carry bottle of wine to friends' for dinner (nice and secure). The plastic backing also keeps the wine bottle from hitting the frame.
Another favorite use is to carry a sub from my favorite local deli (Bay Cities Italian Deli). I wouldn't think of using a normal bottle cage to do this lest it crushes my meatball or prosciutto subs.
At the smallest setting, it carries a normal sports/water bottle just fine although small 10 or 12oz bottled waters will rattle.
For $4 plus free shipping, this simply can't be beat.

cool cage. adjustable for different bottle sizes. it's pretty cool, but if I'd have to choose again, I'd get a little plastic one, just so my bike can be that much lighter
Nice one-size-fits-all cage... nice design
I often buy sports drinks from the many vending machines on the streets around Tokyo. The size of these bottles varies, so it is nice to have a holder that can be adjusted to fit anything from a small bottle, up to a 750 ml bottle. Easy to install and easy to adjust the size by simply turning the screw at the bottom of the holder. No tools needed to adjust size.
Works Great
Easily adjusts, without tools, to fit an assortment of bottles. All the Topeak products I've purchased seem solidly built and this was no exception. I've purchased several for my bikes and for friends.
Clever Idea
What else could you ask for? Topeak Modula Cage Waterbottle Cage allows you to carry virtually any size bottle of water or beverage and is well constructed. I would not hestitate to reccomend it.
