Not for avid basketball players
Futuro Sport Deluxe Ankle Stabilizer, One Size Adjustable (Pack of 2) fits very comfortable and provides adequate support for hiking or playing casual sports. However, Futuro Sport Deluxe Ankle Stabilizer, One Size Adjustable (Pack of 2)s does not provide enough lateral bracing to prevent ankle sprains when playing basketball. I have suffered from a couple of sprains in the past and bought this this preempt further ankle injuries. Unfortunately, I fell on someone's shoe while coming down with a rebound and twisted my ankle while wearing this device. It did little to mitigate the effects of the sprain. It took me quite some time to recover. From this, I gather that a stiffer brace would be better for people that intend to play sports.
Sturdy!
So far i've used this for about 2 weeks when I play ball, it feels secure & gives good ankle support when you make cuts or change of direction. Make sure you wear a sock under it though because it does irritate the skin until you break it in. Overall, it works great!
Review for Futuro Sport Deluxe Ankle Stabilizer, One Size Adjustable (Pack of 2)
I got them in the mail. Two boxes came in. Both work great and do their jobs. Quality material and wish I had them all along. A+++++
More comfortable than most
I just tore a bunch of ligaments in my ankle and will need to keep it braced for awhile.
We picked up a neoprene brace at the store and I tried it on as soon as I got home. It was way to tight for my size 13's and just all around uncomfortable. On top of that It felt more like my ankle was just wrapped tight but not really supported.
The Futuro has a slightly more adjustable design and it also features the side splints that add some welcome support. They're not steel so don't expect your ankle to be immobilized but they seem to be made of a flexible plastic so it feels like a nice balance.
If you've got big feet and some swelling they may still be a bit tight, I was able to adjust them to where the velcro ... Read More
Ankle brace that supports! Who'd have thought?
I finally admitted I had a problem after my third collapse. Third collapse of my left ankle, that is. I'm a fairly active person, and rolling my ankle while playing sports is one of the worst things ever. Doesn't really hurt that badly, but it makes me a gimp with a limp for at least 4 days. After I started wearing one of these, I noticed an immediate improvement. I can launch off my left ankle without even the slightest worry that it might give away. The brace itself is very comfortable, and I forget I'm wearing it almost immediately. The only adjustment I've made is that I wear long athletic socks with my low cut cleats to keep the brace from digging into my skin. A++
