You Won't Go Wrong With This Pot
I have owned and used this pot for over 10 years. It looks and cooks as good as it did when I first got it. I use this mainly to make a good rump roast, but it would work fabulous with any slow cooked meal. One thing you want to be careful with on this pot is that it conducts heat better than the other pots and pans you probably use. For instance, I use Calphalon for my sauce pans or frying pans. For those, I would set my heat on Medium to brown meat - but with this pot, because it conducts the heat soooo well, I have to turn it lower than that. Medium would scorch the meat. Once your meat is braised and you put it in the oven with the lid on, you'll notice how the lid fits nice and tight on this pot and makes a seal. It does become its' own ... Read More

Tramontina Sterling II Dutch Oven 7-qt.
I bought this dutch oven because America's Test Kitchen rated it as the best Dutch Oven for price and quality. I wanted to use it stove top and in the oven for braising. An unexpected great feature is that the handle on both the lid and pot stay cool enough to touch when stove top cooking. The lid fit is so precise that as pot cools it forms a vacuum seal which is good for cooking rice, etc.. I have yet to see any uneven cooking or burning on the bottom of the pot. Unlike my beloved black iron dutch oven I can soak it in water or put in dishwasher. It is a great size for large pot roasts and pinto beans (frijoles).
