What Others Say
A Little Fragile
I bought this cruet after reading all the reviews about its fragility. When it came, the product indeed came broken. However, Amazon replaced it with no issues. Now that I've received the replacement and used it for a while, I must say that it's extremely good to use. It's not fragile like thin glass, it's fragile more like a "chemistry" beaker. As a matter of fact, it looks like it was made by a company who makes scientific equipment.
When pouring the oil (we use it for olive oil), it pours very easily, and any small amount left on the spout doesn't drip; it runs back into the decanter. So no mess at all.
Both my wife and I love it. And we're pleased that we bought the 8 oz one -- the larger of the two sizes. ... Read More
Perfect
This cruet is perfect for drizzling just the right amount of balsamic vinegar over a salad. Not too much, not too little.
I was previously disappointed by a cheap cruet purchased from a high-end gourmet food store. It leaked, badly and made a mess. This little unit is perfect.
It's a few dollars more, but well worth it. Just the right amount of vinegar, every time. I expect this to last me 15 years.
Neat, clean, visually appealing; exactly what I wanted. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Best I've Found
I purchased this probably about two months ago and I've found it so useful that I'm back here to order another. I had tried other types of bottles for olive oil and they were either too vulnerable to being knocked over (being too tall), or else they dripped, or else I was too often getting too much oil when trying to measure. This absolutely does not drip and for me it pours a nice controlled amount for dressing salads or a few tablespoons to use for frying. If I do want more for a particular recipe, say 1/4 cup or so, I go to the larger bottle in my cupboard that I use to refill this counter-top/table-top cruet. It is not a large cruet. Not having a lot of available counter space I appreciate that I will probably get about two weeks of use out ... Read More
Be Careful Unpacking
I took the small box containing the cruet out of the shipping carton and opened it up. Inside I saw much bubble wrap and pulled the bundle out of the box. Opps! It seems that the stopper was individually wrapped in a small clump of the bubble wrap and placed atop the wrapped cruet. It fell to the tile floor of the kitchen, breaking into about a dozen pieces. Yes, I could have been more cautious, but the stopper could have been packed more carefully, perhaps attached with a small piece of tape to the rest of the bubble wrap. Being wrapped in bubble wrap made it difficult to notice the loose clump of bubble wrap that contained the stopper.
I will probably order another one and edit this review once I actually use the product. ... Read More
Good Oil Thingy
It's a very nice looking oil thing.
It's a lot smaller than it looks in the picture.
And as I can attest, the glass is pretty thin. The first one I ordered didn't last even 5 min. out of the box. It was dropped at about 6in. and shattered into a million very sharp pieces.
But it is very nice looking, works as it should and the wife approves.
The dripper thing is kind of slow, but not because of the size of the hole. But it looks like it's having trouble getting air in to equal the pressure.
