Editorial Review:

Product DescriptionThe mandolin slicer is easy to use - just turn the dial on the back for paper thin, medium, thick and very thick slices. The ultra sharp, durable ceramic blade won't rust or brown foods. Perfect for cabbage, carrots, cucumber, onions, potatoes and more.

What Others Say

Flimsy and dangerous
Your first few experiences with this tool are likely to be delightful. It features a ceramic blade, which is much, much sharper than the machined steel blades found on most mandolins. It is small and light, making it quick and easy to use and clean. Adjustment is accomplished simply by rotating a rectangular piece of plastic on the underside of the tool to one of four positions.

Unfortunately, the faults in this tool will soon become manifest.

First of all, as many reviewers have said, it is dangerous. The guard that comes with it is worthless and it's difficult to imagine a guard for any hand-held mandolin being of much use; such a guard is, by necessity, too small and not held in a fixed line of movement relative ... Read More

Wow, a mandolin that works!
I've used mandolins before. I've had three or four given to me and I've always sent them back to the manufacturer with a note asking them to check and see if they were defective. It's unreal the number of veggies I've cut that have turned out horribly. I was beginning to think that I'd never have an easy way to slice and chop food. Then my husband chose this mandolin from my wish list. Who knew that you don't have to spend $100 on a mandolin for it to work? I'm so thrilled with it that I've been recommending it to everyone I know. It makes uniform slices and can slice so thinly that you can see through the slices. And it does it with minimal effort on my part. The ceramic blade is very, very sharp, and I am sure that is what makes the mandolin ... Read More

See one before you purchase
I bought this slicer primarily on the number of good reviews. I was very disappointed with the slicer once I received it. First this is very small and made of very flexible plastic. It is way too flexible and flimsy. The ceramic blade while sharp isn't as sharp a good SS blade. I would guess its more durable though. The thickness selector is very stiff small square bar you turn on the back. The markings are the same color as the plastic bar and very difficult to see. If you don't get the bar to stop squarely, the thickness is off.

Wow!
I just shredded a head of cabbage like it was nothing. Love it! The blade is sharp-- be super careful. The pusher is kind of useless. This works better than a mandolin I paid twice the money for.

easy to use, easy to clean
I love this slicer. It doesn't do as much as my expensive mandolin, but it is so much faster and easier to use. I don't use the protective food holder that comes with it. The one that came with my other mandolin works better. I like how easy it is to clean.
