Sucks
Worked good for a few months, and now keeps stopping 1/2 way through the cycle. Cleaned it several times to no avail. Tried to take it apart to clean backflow preventer... it has small thorax (star drive) screws screws in the base (jerks!) And the trouble shooting guide says check for power failure!
One Star Is Too Many
PLEASE - Before you buy Mr. Coffee FTX49 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black/Red, research it. I just left Target's website...head over there and spend a minute or two. The problems are common.
I have had this coffee maker for just over two months, and I whole-heartedly regret this purchase.
From day one, the coffee maker has not brewed a full pot of coffee. It leaks constantly, and half the time, the coffee will brew onto your counter and floor insead of into the pot. This is a safety issue as far as I am concerned...I have a toddler running around the house and he was nearly burned the first time this happened. I'm not sure....is all this steam normal?
We bought this to replace another Mr. Coffee that gave up the ghost. There's not much choice in the remote area where we live, otherwise I would have tried something different from a Mr. Coffee. The very first time we used this, during the cleaning cycle recommended before brewing your first cup of coffee, the machine made alot of noise, as if the maker required cleaning already. It also procuces alot of "steam" out of the top while brewing. Perhaps this is normal, I don't know. But the coffee tastes good, it's easy to see how much water is in the reservoir, and the basket seems to slip easily into place, which will make a nice change from our previous Mr. Coffee. Fine coffee maker for my purposes.
I purchased this coffee maker at the recommendation of a friend and I'm really happy with it so far. It has a selectable brew strength, a defeatable audio alarm that beeps when brewing is complete, a clock, and a delayed brew timer.
The delayed brew timer is nice to have if you want to wake up in the morning with a pot of coffee waiting for you. I've used the feature a few times, and I like having it, although most of the time I grind my own beans, so I don't like to let the grounds sit in the coffee machine overnight because they can get stale. Of course, that's unavoidable unless you spend the extra money on a machine that also grinds beans before brewing.
