I have read alot of reviews on this maker. I have not had the problems that I see others have had. I really love this maker. My last one, I paid $10.00 for and had it for 12 years. And quit making coffee at home because I couldn't get a good cup. Now I am back to drinking coffee daily. This maker makes a real good cup
This WAS going to be a 5-star review but...
I love this coffee maker... but I'm not IN love with it. You know what I mean?
It started out as a mad love affair. You know: the hot coffee, the dark red exterior, and I had just gotten over a Cuisinart that died in only 6 months. (Click on the link for my other reviews if you are curious.)
I know what you are thinking: This Mr. Coffee FTX (model 49, actually) was just a REBOUND coffee maker. I know. I was thinking it too! But I went through and enumerated all the things I love about it while I was trashing the Cuisinart. In the process of writing that review I fell in love all over again.

Not impressed
We've had this coffee maker for about 6-7 months now.
1) Where does all the water go?
a) It all steams out the back. Therefore, you have to put in more water than what you want to end up with in your finished pot.
b) It leaks out the hole in the back of the coffee maker leaving a constant (but small) puddle of water contstantly on the counter. The puddle of water is not large enough to drip over the counter edge, but it is irritating.
2) Why does the coffee taste not only bitter but also with plastic overtones?
a) Ok, I don't do the vinegar clean every 2 weeks, but I do it at least once a month. That should be enough for only having 1 pot of coffee a day, right?

Looks nice but has it's flaws
It has the looks and the features. The water filter is great. The timer delay broke after just three months. The whole thing gets extremely hot and I'm assuming the electronics in the coffee maker won't last long either. I don't think I want to exchange for another one as I'll look for more of a french press that will never break, or a kettle type of coffee maker with minimal electronics. Plus, I hate the fact these are all plastic, feels like I'm having coffee with a shot of plastic every time I take a sip.
I thought this had promise....
I purchased this as a replacement for a Cuisinart Grind & Brew, fully knowing that I was heading back to pre-ground coffee territory, surprisingly this ended up not being an issue. What was disturbing was the build quality, and to some extent the design.
Flatly said, the build quality is poor. The carafe leaks every time your pour a cup of coffee, and the auto stopper consistently gets clogged.
The design is such that it has a double flapper for the water and coffee compartments. Water is difficult to pour into the correct compartment, and often gets into the coffee.
