How much I enjoy my little crockpot
We really enjoy our 1 1/2 quart crock pot. It is just perfect for dipping sauces and meals for 2 people.
Serves its purpose
Great item! Serves it's purpose! Lack of temperature control. The manual indicates it heats on the equivalent as the "low" setting on a larger crockpot. I think it to be a little warmer than "low".
Rival Crock-Pot
This crockpot is just the right size for my spouse and I. What I didn't like about it was that it has no on/off switch, and it cooks a little too hot. It says on the package that it cooks on the same low setting as the bigger ones, but I found that it was higher than that. My food did turn out OK, but it's a good thing I was home to check on it, or it would have burned!
Good size, occasional hot spot (updated 6/07)
June 2007 update to my original review: I still have the same pros/cons for Rival 3215-WN 1.5QT White Slow Cooker. I've used it many times since I wrote that review and the hot spot problem has not changed. I've found some work-arounds, though; for example, when I make oatmeal overnight, I put the crock pot on a timer (the kind you use to set your lamps to turn on/off while you're on vacation) and have the oatmeal start cooking at about 1 AM and I also added extra water to the crock for the oatmeal. So after months of use, I still feel the same way about this item and have found it useful enough that I'm willing to experiment with work-arounds instead of just getting rid of it.

perfect for small whole-grain meals ready when you need them
My husband gets up by 5 am and I... well, I don't! :)
I bought this unit to make hot cereal so I could offer my husband a hot breakfast without having to (painfully) alter my own sleep schedule.
This is a great size for our family of three. I fill it with water and whole grains around 9 pm. My husband takes his breakfast at 5 am and unplugs the unit. When my son and I get up around 6 or 7 am, the cereal has cooled to a perfect temperature to eat right away without exceeding the "maximum 2 hours at room temperature" timeframe for food safety.
I want to eat healthy, but I'm not an accomplished cook. This 1 1/2 qt crockpot, together with the 2 qt model I use for dinner, allows me to cook whole grains and other ... Read More
