No parts
Only two weeks old and the plastic cover hinge broke. Called rival and was told there was no parts available for either the hinge (held on by two easily replaceable screws)or the complete lid assembly. They told be to take it back to the store and see if I could get a replacement.
Works great, but no stoneware replacement available
This was my upgrade to my original 4qt cooker and it works great. The top cover is a little clunky, but it works. Big disappointment when I went to call to get a replacement stoneware because I cracked the original while cleaning it. I called months apart and they had no replacements or were not planning to make more. They offered liners, but who wants to cook in plastic!?
Poor design and quality control
First, the defects...bought new, but the plastic control plate (with the dial and buttons) didn't fit onto the metal base well...so askew on the right side that the temp probe was impossible to plug in. Since it was rare-to-unlikely I'd ever need the probe for my uses I decided to see how well the unit worked. The buttons and dial were sketchy...sometimes a button press or dial turn would yield no response on the display, sometimes it would. I cooked a sample 4-qt recipe in it, on low. Low must be the new high at Rival, because I noticed the food was already overcooked and encrusted on the sides in 4 hours despite being a 6-8 hour recipe. The Best crock pot i have ever used.
I have used crock pot's for years. The last 4 years i used the rival smart crock pot. It was 'ok' but not great, you had high for 4 or 6 hours and low for 8 or 10. What if I needed/wanted to cook on low for 5 hours or 12 hours? I had to make sure I was there to change it. This one you can set the time anyway you want, as well as high (or low) for a bit and then it can change to the other setting. It has a prob (I have not used yet) to use on meat, or corn bread,etc. to cook it just the right time and temp. It also has a warm setting (not used yet but will..soon...only had this for 3 days.)
How many times to i make the rolls first, then the rest in oven or microwave, and end up with cold rolls?! Now I can pop them in the crock pot on ... Read More
Excellent Choice!
I love this crockpot! My husband and I were looking for a larger one and liked the idea of a more automation. The warming feature is excellent. The pot cooks at the temperature selected and we have had great success with it. I would highly recommend. Looks good too!
