Just what I wanted
I bought 3D Home Architect Deluxe 3.0 for my dad, who couldn't find his cd-rom of an older version of this same product. He is actually a full time self employed carpenter, and really, given my choice I would have got him more professional software. However, for just ten dollars (including the shipping!) i was able to get him the exact thing he wanted. also it includes a landscape feature, which has my mom excited. my dad is very pleased with the software.
OUTDATED BUT STILL GREAT
I have had version 3.0 for almost 10 years and I still use it today. For conceptual design work it is easy to learn and has a great set of features. 3D rendering is not as realistic as current design software, but the design tools on 3D Home Architect Deluxe 3.0 are pretty much the same as newer products and probably easier to use than most. I use it for initial design work on remodels for kitchens,bathrooms, basements, and additions. Roof design takes some patience but you can do fairly complex roofs with practice.
If you want the best 3D rendering look for newer software, but if you just need an inexpensive, basic design tool this works very well. You should first make sure that your operating system will be compatible.

In a few words "Old but Powerful"
Outstanding product for the price. Its old but its as good as most of the more expensive "junk" for sale at home improvement and software stores.
Versions: 3d home 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 are from the same company 5.0 is NOT the same and is incompatible. The newest version is Better Homes and Gardens Home Designer Suite 6.0 (much more expensive but has materials application options)
