What Others Say

3 1/2 stars-- Does a great job, but missing bells and whistles.
The UtiliTEA is an excellent electric tea kettle-- it's comes in two parts, the base and the kettle. The base plugs in, the kettle rests on top of it. Fill it with (up to four cups) of water, fit the kettle on the base, set the dial to the desired temperature, flip the switch and moments later, you've got hot water when the switch pops back up. I've used mine endlessly since I've gotten it.

A few gripes though, the UtiliTEA's temperature gauge is color coded rather than providing any kind of numeric indication and the manual. It's easy to use, but if you needed precision (and I don't), you won't be able to get it. More irritating is no real audible indication that it's done-- the lever clicks, but there's no whistle, bell or ... Read More

A "Dear John" letter to my old kettle
Kettle, you just don't do it for me anymore. Sure you get hot, but it takes you sooo long to get there... I've tried to be patient, perhaps I expect too much, but I've come to the conclusion, it's not me... it's you. We've had some good times, but I need to make a change. There's a new kettle in my life and I couldn't be happier. Adagio's Teas 3 UtiliTEA Kettle heats up at the flick of a button and I'm in control -- from a roiling boil to a gentle simmer -- it's all about what I want. And talk about performance, a full boil in about 90 seconds. And as much as I hate to say it, you're stuck in the past, this new kettle has style. I hope someday you'll understand.

The most awesome tea kettle ever
Before I got the Utilitea kettle, I heated water on the stove. I thought I was doing pretty darn good until I kept reading the reviews on the UtiliTEA. What finally sold me was that the kettle heated the water and shut itself off automatically. I have always been paranoid about leaving the tea kettle on the stove -- and now the worry is no more! It precisely heats up the water to the exact temperature (You will have to have a thermometer to know exactly the temperatures) and shuts itself off.

What's more, it's faster than heating a kettle on the stove. It's ridiculously easy to operate and cleaning it is a snap with vinegar and water. Works wonderfully. I love mine.

A Must Have for Green & White Tea Lovers
This is a great tea kettle--perfect size, function, and convenience. I love it that I can finally make my Green and White teas at the correct temperature. It makes a world of difference in the taste. I've also tried the Ingenuitea 16 oz and it makes a perfect cup of tea.

The Adagio white, green, and rooibos teas are marvelous too--check them out Rooibos Teas Sampler, 6 tins, Green Teas Sampler, 6 tins, and White Teas Sampler, 4 tins.

Durability Issues
I had the previous version of this kettle and it only lasted for about a year and a half before it went kaput. The temperature dial started out well, and then later was sticky and wouldn't stay in place. Also, water leaked from somewhere on the kettle. I couldn't figure out from where, but I think it may have shorted something out. Not sure. Anyway, I used it maybe once a day and enjoyed it a lot while it lasted. I don't know if this new design is better. I am hesitant to purchase it, because for the price, the products should last longer than a year or so, and the warranty is only 90 days. I don't know why in 2008 it is so hard to design a temperature control kettle that works well and lasts. It's depressing. So I will look around for other kettle ... Read More
