Not Practical
1) Today we need web functionality such as this comment box. Duh!
2) At this late date, common names in everyday usage, and words one would find in a dictionary are all sooo easy to access, it is ridiculous the program can't recognize them.
The market needs competition. Look elsewhere if you have an educated vocabulary or work online.
Won't Work With 64-bit Vista...
I was all excited to give Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Standard a try only to find that I couldn't even load it on my new Toshiba laptop with the Vista operating system.I tried twice to load it onto my laptop without success. After going to the manufacturer's (Nuance) website, I found out that the program is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems...
Are you kidding me??!!??
This was supposed to be the most recent version of this software. After reading the system requirements printed on the box more closely, I noticed that it does say that the 32-bit Vista operating system was supported. Well for those of us who aren't computer experts, it'd be nice if the manufacturer clearly labeled the box with "PRODUCT NOT COMPATIBLE WITH 64-BIT VISTA OPERATING ... Read More
Dragon Naturally Speaking 10
Works very well for me. I had to create more than one user files, due to different useage conditions with back ground noise, is different at home than in work conditions. I also use with Digital voice recorder, this works very well for me also. Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Standard has saved me alot of time. I would recommend it to anyone that is on the go alot. I have to admit that it even spells better than I do sometimes.
Known Flaw
It would not install on Windows XP and when I read a ZD Net review this flaw was noted. I went to the Nuance web site and there was no patch posed. The fix I am told is to spend 2 hours on the phone with there techincal support that is not even a 800 number. I returned the product for a refund but what a waste of time. Nuance did not even bother to find out why I returned it. Do not mess with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Standard.Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Preferred
DNS 10.0 POS
I have used DNS for about 7 years. I started with version 6 as I recall. I recently upgraded to DNS 10.0 which is a total POS. Besides running much slower and less accurately than 9.0, it appeared to crash the RAID system on my primary work machine and cost me about $1000 of IT expense to get the machine working again. I am back to 9.0 and wouldn't recommend 10.0 to anyone.
